Who should come on a Blue Water Spearfishing Charter?
We require that every diver has previous experience in spearfishing before coming on your blue water hunting charter. This is to ensure everyones safety and of course your best chance at landing fishing.
Spearos who are looking to land a big pelagic fish like mahi, yellow fin tuna, wahoo, cubera snapper, or almaco jacks.
We have 2 options for our blue water spearfishing charters. There is a deep offshore pinnacle with the bottom at 35m (110ft) or take the day and search for tuna schools.

Blue Water Hunting Charters
Full Day Private Charters (7am – 4pm) – $1,250
Shared Charters – $450/person
El 26 (Deep Pinnacle) – Our most famous spearfishing spot in Costa Rica. Home to world record Cubera snappers hiding in the reef below (33m). It’s also an abundant ecosystem with Almaco jacks, wahoo, Mahi, and more.
Yellowfin Tuna – National Geographic-direction. Finding pods of hundreds of spinner dolphins, tuna, and birds in a feeding frenzy.
Must have freediving experience and/or spearfishing experience. If you are new to both please check our Freediver Course and Spearfishing Course

Frequently Asked Questions
We do require taking a freediving course before Blue Water Hunting. We can add the level 1 course to your training package for an additional cost.
You can either use your own gear or use our equipment. Price for using our equipment is included in the price, nothing extra.

For the Blue Water Hunting Charters we typically do not run shared charters but sometimes it has worked out to split a charter with someone.
Of course! Any fish you catch will be yours. You can take it and have it cooked in the marina restaurants or at home.
While on the bait balls tuna come come up to the surface. However typically a diver should be comfortable diving 10m (33ft) to 18m (60ft) for the best experience.
There is something for everyone there. Wahoo, mahi, and rainbow runners are at the surface to 8m (25ft). If you want a cubera snapper or almaco jack you will need to dive a bit deeper from 16m (55ft) – 25m(80ft).
